The gnomon, which was missing in the mid 19th century, is now restored, but without a ball for reading information from the patterns on the dial. It remained like this until the 1911 repainting.
The dial was repainted in 1864, so it seems likely that the gnomon was restored at the same time.
Several elevation curves and temporary hour lines can be seen to be truncated at the vertical SW bearing line, instead of extending to the frame. This feature was preserved in the 1911 repainting.
