Plan of the College by Alexander Watford 1836

Plan of the College by Alexander Watford 1836
This plan, part of a magnificent book of plans of all the College properties owned in 1836, shows the College buildings and grounds as they were then laid out.
Old Court and Cloister Court have remained essentially unchanged. The gardens and Bowling Green beyond now comprising Walnut Tree Court, Friars Court and the Erasmus Lawn have altered with the completion of the Docket, Friars and Erasmus Buildings and the new Chapel.
On the island on the far side of the river significant changes have also taken place although we can still recognise the Grove and the Drain, now calverted half way down.
The Fellows Garden, the Kitchen Garden and the Forcing Ground are gone and the Coat House, Seed House, Wood House, Brew House, Stables and Gardener’s House have all been demolished to make way for the Fisher and Cripps Buildings.
