Choir

The mixed Chapel Choir comprises both Choral Scholars and volunteers both from Queens' and outside.

Madeleine Lovell, M.A., M.Phil. was appointed Director of Music in 2008. She, together with the organ scholars, is responsible for music in Chapel and the recruiting training and conducting of the Choir.

The Choir prides itself on the freshness of its interpretation, the broad scope of its repertoire, its commitment to quality, and its friendly, social atmosphere.  The Choir normally meets three times per week, and sings two choral evensongs every week during term, in addition to concerts and occasional special services, such as Eucharists on Feast Days, Commemoration of Benefactors, Weddings and Memorial Services.  The Choir travels regularly, singing for services around the country (Canterbury Cathedral 2008, Southwell Minster and Truro Cathedral (2005)), and giving concerts on tours further afield (New York, Christmas 2008, Angers in France (2009)).  The Choir has built up a distinguished discography, having established relationships with two record companies.  The Choir's most recent recordings on Guild Music, Flight of Song, Songs of Heaven and Earth, and Love and Honour have attracted widespread critical acclaim.

“it would be hard to find more accomplished choral singing anywhere, I feel”
